Boat Rental FAQs — Ibiza Hire Boats
Answers to the most common questions about renting a boat in San Antonio, Ibiza — licenses, prices, fuel, routes, cancellation and more.
Booking & Cancellation
How do I book a boat in Ibiza?
Choose your boat on our fleet page, pick a date and duration in the booking widget, and confirm online. You can also call +34 871 180 297 or email info@ibizahire.boats. We recommend booking at least 48–72 hours ahead in peak season (July–August).
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure for a full refund. Cancellations within 48 hours may incur a 50% charge. If weather conditions are unsafe, we reschedule your trip or offer a full refund.
Do I pay a deposit or the full amount online?
Most bookings allow a partial online payment to secure your slot, with the remaining balance due on arrival. Exact payment terms are shown in the booking widget for your selected boat and date.
Licenses & Skipper
Do I need a boating license to rent in Ibiza?
It depends on the boat. We offer license-free boats for beginners (no experience required) and licensed boats for holders of PNB or equivalent. If you don't have a license, choose a license-free boat or hire an optional skipper on licensed vessels.
Can I hire a skipper?
Yes. Some charters include a professional captain; on others a skipper is available as an optional extra. Skippers know the best coves, handle navigation and ensure your group stays safe.
Which boats can I drive without a license?
Our license-free fleet includes small boats such as the Estable 400 (up to 4 people). You receive a full safety briefing and navigation instructions before departure from San Antonio Bay.
Prices & What's Included
What is included in the rental price?
Every listing shows specific inclusions. Typically: the boat, safety equipment, briefing and insurance. Many license-free boats include fuel for standard routes. Skippered charters often include captain, drinks and water sports gear — check each boat page.
Is fuel included?
Fuel policy varies by boat. License-free boats often include fuel for recommended local routes. Licensed self-drive boats usually charge fuel separately (often around €90 for a half day). Skippered luxury charters typically include fuel for standard itineraries.
Routes & Destinations
What are the best boat routes from San Antonio?
Popular half-day routes include Cala Salada, Cala Gració and Punta Galera on the north coast, or Cala Bassa and Cala Conta on the west. Full-day trips can reach Es Vedrà or Formentera on suitable boats and weather.
Can I take a boat to Formentera?
Yes, on larger licensed or skippered boats for full-day charters, weather permitting. Formentera requires more fuel and time; confirm availability and any fuel supplement when booking.
Safety & Preparation
What happens if the weather is bad?
Your safety comes first. If conditions are unsafe, we reschedule at no extra cost or provide a full refund. Light wind or cloud usually does not cancel trips — the captain or our team will advise.
What should I bring on a boat day in Ibiza?
Bring sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, swimwear, towels and a camera. Pack food and drinks unless your charter includes a drinks package. Valid ID and boating license (if self-driving) are required at check-in.
